Heat Transfers can be applied to various types of products and materials using a cutter and heat press. The image is cut then applied to the product or garment using the heat press at a certain temperature and precise pressure. Different types of transfer materials are made for various types of garments, and they colors usually vary according to the type of items it will be used on. Images used for heat transfers must be very "clean" and simple. Colors can be layered on top of one another to add to the image. When properly cared for, heat transfer products can last for years without the image cracking. It is often a cheaper solution for short runs.

| More complex logos, or graphics, are printed on a transfer paper before heated on the garment. There is no layering, the image is printed as one piece, then contour cut, and weeded, resulting in a clean, clear image. Using this type of transfer, you can print a photographic image, and very detailed logos.
